Happenings – Interactive Events for Diverse Audiences

In our interactive happenings we provide questions and let the group give the answer. We have spent 4 years developing the craft of semi-facilitated spaces which provide enough stimulus to respond to deeply and meaningfully and yet leave enough space for genuine exploration and communal creation. To ensure everyone has a fulfilling journey, we start spaces making people feel welcomed, warmed up and connected and leave time for feeding back and sharing emotions at the end. As such, if you are interested in holding a happening, we recommend planning an extra hour to ensure everyone connects to the fullest.

What is the nature of an experimental action? It is simply an action the outcome of which is not foreseen.

The Crown

Who is in control? Who controls who is in control? What does control mean? Can it be a force for good? For bad? For a select few? For the masses? In this happening we all take a turn to be big boss and see who has an inner king gandhi and who has an inner dictator… or is that the same thing? The journey has a few stops along the way with hierarchies and blood lines making an appearance alongside guerrilla tents and revolutions. In the end, who will hold the power, who will triumph above all? And is the power worth it after all…?

Bearhunt!

Bearhunt!

"We're going on a bearhunt, we're going to catch a big one, what a beautiful day, we're not scared…" Is the pavement designed just to get you from A to B? From bank to shopping centre? Or is it a stage in itself for dancing? Is the square for taking selfies in? Or is it a fertile playground for hide and seek? Through connecting to our raw inner-child and enabling it to emerge, at first fearful and vulnerable from so many years of strict adulthood, and then joyful, hungry and fierce, we encourage participants to jump down the rabbit hole for a fleeting moment in time and break onto the streets to explore like never before. Be brave and dance with bears!

Length: 60 minutes inside and out

Scarf Dance

A story in six simple parts with unlimited possibilities. With a gorgeous slow build from slow movementlessness through excitement and play, from fear and uncertainty through outright war, and finally through reconciliation and interconnectedness. Our introductory happening for groups who don't identifiyas actors, dancers, performers or artists which welcomes them into expressive movement and character whilst leaving ample space for self-defining artists and confident movers to go wild at their own pace. There is something in this happening for everyone, which is why it has become our staple go-to for new audiences and tried and tested interactive theatre buffs alike.

Memory Circle

Memory Circle

We all have memorabilia and we all have baggage. We carry it around with us to shape and define us but sometimes it becomes too heavy and we want to shed it to reform ourselves light as an emerging butterfly. But if we just ignore it, discard it, burn it in a violent burst it can end up following us around in haunting echoes. Through a Memory Circle we come together to honour those objects and memories, however joyful or challenging these aspects of ourselves have been, we find a way to recognise the needs they fulfilled and the fruits they bore, thank them and let them go, culminating in a group sharing process that will bring tears and laughter in equal measure.

Time(less)

What can you do in a minute? In a second? In five minutes? In an hour, a day, a week, a month, a year, a life!? What can you feel? How can you relate? We're all blasting on an intergalactic piece of rock at thousands of miles an hour over thousands of millennia and yet everyday we're confined into slots of 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 seconds to change train, 2 hours late and counting… In recognition of this we take a moments happening to explore how different pockets of time affect our emotions and interactions. Whether we're all locked in one at once or different people are communicating across timezones. The effect can be quite explosive and cathartic at once!

Word(less)

Word(less)

Words are they our servant or our master? Do we use them as spells, do we let them spell bind us? Are they more often used to cherish and praise or weaken and wound? Do they usually make equal environments for sharing and caring, or coercive spaces for leveraging privilege and power? In Wordfull-Wordless we explore the silence, the full stops, the hesitation, the poetry, the absurdity and the streams of consciousness words simultaneously afford us and impose on us. In doing so, we wake up to our use of words/silence and reaction to words/silence in the everyday.

Duvet Den

Lethargy, slowness, winter sloth. Body, disconnected, lounge and flop. In a reclamation of weirdness and weakness inspired by Japanese Butoh techniques, we rebirth ourselves in an ocean of comfort and duvet as different creatures with a parallel life emerge and explore each other with curiosity and fear in equal measure, each allowed to reimagine and recreate their physicality through a new lens. What games will be found in a subterranean world of blanket and feetfaces? Who's sock just tapped my ear? Oh no that elbow just ran away with my glasses… Help!?!
